Stride Stop
Attack the basket and initiate this move by taking a hard pound dribble then getting the ball to your shooting pocket while setting your feet in a left, right or 1,2 step manner. Land on two feet and don’t twist your body while in your shooting motion. You should jump and land at roughly the same angle and from the same spot. Use this move when a defender runs at you while on the 3-point line or when driving to a gap to pull for a jump shot efficiently in the mid-range.

Right after killing your momentum, cross the basketball over under your right leg while pushing off your right foot plant foot, popping off your left foot then landing on two feet. Behind The Back Crossover Step

Try to avoid wrapping the ball behind your back when executing this move. Both your feet and the ball should hit the floor at roughly the same time. Punch the ball behind your knees and out toward the open spot then cross step setting your feet right, left. Your right foot should hit the ground the same time your right hand hits the ball. Make sure you get your shooting shoulder and hip square to the rim as you 1,2 into your shot and make sure you’re on balance and not fading away as you rise up for your jump shot. Land on two feet and don’t twist your body while in your shooting motion. You should jump and land at roughly the same angle and from the same spot. Use this move when you’re unable to get to the rim while driving and your defender runs in front of you, cutting you off.
Step Back Attack
Attack the basket and initiate this move by taking a hard pound dribble the same time you plant and push off your left foot. Shift your weight to your back foot, step away from your defender and get your eyes to the rim to sell the standard step back. As your defender rises up to contest your standard step back shot, push hard off your back foot and reach toward the rim with your front foot and explode to the basket for a rim finish. Keep your shoulders level on this move and don’t lift your inside shoulder. Keep your inside shoulder to the rim and avoid opening your body to the basket while using this move. Also make sure you keep your hand on top or behind the ball, not under the ball to avoid a carrying violation. Use this move when your defender begins to anticipate your standard step back move or to entice them to shift their weight toward the perimeter if you’re hoping to get to the rim.
