Dribble Jab To Finish
Attack the basket and initiate this move by pounding the basketball hard straight down to the floor, jabbing your left foot and shifting your weight left at the same time. After the jab, side step the defender with your right foot and jump off your right foot. As you’re side stepping, pick the ball up and get it to your right hip or shoulder to keep it away from the defender. Finish this shot with either hand in an overhand or underhand manner. Make sure you watch the ball through the net. Use this move on a rotational defender to freeze them or shift them to their right opening up a gap to side step them on their left.
Whalen Euro Step
Attack the front of the basket from the top of the key or left slot and initiate this move by pounding the basketball hard straight down to the floor then jabbing your right foot directly at a defender attempting to take a charge in front of the rim. Pick the ball up on your right foot jab step and get it to your right hip or shoulder. After your right foot jab, get to the left side of the basket by side stepping the defender with your left foot then jump off your left foot. As you’re side stepping, shift the ball from your right hip or shoulder to your left hip or shoulder to keep the ball away from the defender before lifting it toward the rim. As you jump, rotate your body to improve your finishing angle for your right hand. When you land, you should be facing half court. Finish this shot with your right hand in an underhand manner. Make sure you watch the ball through the net. Use this move on a rotational defender who is directly in front of the basket as you drive from the top of the key or left slot to freeze them into holding their charge attempt before you side step them for a layup.
Middle Reverse
Attack the basket by going middle with a lefty drive. Initiate this move by pounding the basketball hard then picking it up and getting it to your left hip or chest before shifting it to your right shoulder and lifting it toward the rim for a right hand finish. You should use an underhand release and you’ll step right, left and jump off your outside foot while executing this finishing move. As you jump, rotate your body to improve your finishing angle for your right hand. When you land, you should be facing half court. Keep in mind you’re driving with your left hand and finishing with your right hand while jumping off your outside foot, not your inside foot. Use this move if your defender is trailing you on your inside hip and you’re unable to veer in front of them and get to the near side of the rim.
2 Foot Spin To Finish
Attack the basket and initiate this move by jump stopping and pounding the basketball hard at the same time. After the pound dribble, pull the ball with your left hand, rotate your body and leg whip your left foot toward the basket. Out of the spin, your feet should hit left, right, and then you’ll explode vertically off two feet. Place and gather the ball with your right hand as your right foot hits the ground. Lift the ball through your shooting pocket and finish with an overhand release. If you’re having issues getting square to the rim as you spin, whip your head the same direction you are spinning in to force a full rotation. Use this move on your defender who is sprinting with you on your inside hip and is initiating contact. Spin off contact to get back to the rim.
Fake Spin
Attack the basket and initiate this move by jump stopping and pounding the basketball hard at the same time. After the pound dribble, pull the ball with your left hand, half spin, and land on two feet with your back to the basket. On the half spin, shift your weight to your left to sell the full spin. As both your feet hit the ground, pick the basketball up and get it to your hips or chest. Front pivot off your right foot and get into your jump shot with a slight fade away from the rim or a left handed jump hook. Use this move on your defender who is sprinting with you on your inside hip and is initiating contact but has begun to anticipate your use of a 1 foot or 2 foot spin move.
