Stationary Tennis Ball Ball Handling Series
Steph Curry will use a tennis ball, among many other methods, to improve and tighten his handle! Here is a simple yet effective and efficient tennis ball series you can use at home or at the gym. Using a tennis ball will improve your off hand reaction to reaching defenders so you’re able to clip and deflect their reach. It’ll also take much of your attention off the basketball and place it on the tennis ball much like your attention will be on your defender and actions going on within the game, resulting in quicker ball handling improvement and game carry over.
Steve Nash Loop Series
Here is a great series to work on looping through the paint under the rim if you’re unable to get off an uncontested shot or find an open teammate. Steve Nash used this concept for years, which can be attributed to his high basketball IQ. Rather than picking up the basketball in a crowd or forcing a shot over your defender or a rotational defender, looping through the paint while keeping your dribble alive is an effective way to keep the possession alive. For this series, I attack using a Nash stutter step, but you can use whatever move you want! Master the scoring options within this series and become a more dangerous player around the rim!
Tight Cones Ball Handling Drill
Here is a simple yet effective and efficient series to get in a ton of ball handling reps in a short amount of time. Go 4 trips per more for a total of 20 trips. You’ll have completed 100 dribble moves on the move once the series is complete: Right hand inside out – 4 trips, Left hand inside out – 4 trips, Crossover – 4 trips, Between the legs – 4 trips and Behind the back – 4 trips.
